I can’t express how inspired and excited I am to try out the new colors and styles I see. It’s perfect for finding updos and some sites even have DIY tutorials. Beware though, you will spend hours on this site!

The new color trend I’ve been seeing right now is multi dimensional highlights.  Much like a child’s hair after swimming and playing in the sun all summer long.  Shiny healthy hair with natural looking highlights is most clients dream.  The key is to have put in several different colors, leaving a halo of light pieces around the face and slightly lighter at the ends  The next step is to have a gloss put in to create more shine.  As we age our hair gets dull looking and flat.  Any attempt to get more shine and life back in the hair will help us recreate the hair we were born with.

Thinning hair is no one’s friend.  Most of my clients have noticed that as they have aged their hairline has gotten more sparse.  There is no sure way to regrow hair back but there is many ways to prevent and achieve a fuller look. Stress, diet, hereditary, and hormones play a huge roll in hair loss.  I always recommend seeing a doctor if the hair loss occurs sudden.  Unfortuantely, little thinning of the hair as we age is normal. Some helpful tips are to use good products that won’t build up on the hair or scalp.  A weekly clarifyer for the hair is also good for the scalp.  Volumizing products and dry shampoos plump up the hair.  If all else fails Great Lengths Extensions can be used to disguise thin hair.  Try not to brush hair when it is wet or overly teased.  The hair around our face is the most gentle and also the most manipulated.

Alright the time of year has come that brings a brisk chill in the air and changing leaves; our summer tans start fading and it’s now that we decide to become a seasonal chameleon! This time of year we stylists LOVE! We become re-challenged to find our clients’ perfect color! So as the client you may want to know what is new/ hot for the season; well we professionals are asked to escape our box and find new inspiration like orange marmalade and apricot undertones on our darker blondes; wintery blue undertones on our lightest blondes and mauve on our rich brunettes. We now address how it is that these new hues are to be worn… This is to be underlaying color hues in addition to a boost of your base color. It’s not something you see all over the head but only with shimmers of different lighting do they really pop! This more subtle version of what we see on the runway and thru our  new inspiration is wearable for all styles of clients. So come on change, richen, play it up your hair and style are all worth it!

Ok so I think I can speak for everyone when I say that it is crazy HOT! And I am also sure that with this crazy heat everyone’s hair is not quite cooperating with how you all want it to look. Well a few tips that I can give you is to make sure of two things while doing your hair; 1… Make sure at least one of your products has some silicone in it. Silicone has heat protectant  and cuticle sealant in it which will lead to more manageable frizz control. 2… Use at least one product from the Pureology Super Smooth line; even if you have straight/ smooth hair. Each of the products in this line has humidity resistance in it. Using a little mixed with your other products used daily will lead to controlled longer lasting results. So go ahead still make that hair rock even in this weather. With a few tweaks it will be as great of a hair day as you would have any other day of the year!

So, I, know that we haven’t chatted in a while… Had a few things come up if you hadn’t heard (flood). We are officially back and better than ever! We have made quite a few changes starting with the layout. We also have gotten a few new things including… a new kuerig coffee machine, a new Pur water filter, and a brand new state of the art pedicure chair to name a few!       This year started out with a bang, actually a lot of water.  Luckily, the salon was okay and we just needed some new wood floors.  Along with these beautiful new floors we have done some renovations and I have to say it’s looking pretty darn good!  Lisa Rene’s has such an authentic warm atmosphere and now with our new look we have some excitement in the air. 

   Along with the new look we are encouraging clients to reinvent themselves.  Spring is just around the corner and the perfect way to celebrate longer days and more sunshine is to treat yourself to a new do.

  Last year I was certified to do Great Lengths extensions.  I can’t believe what a transformation it has made for clients.   Honestly its like plastic surgery for the hair!  I myself sported a colorful punch of pink in my hair this winter. I don’t need any length to my hair but to get some fun, fade free color without damage is genius. We at Lisa Rene are devastated to keep hearing the awful news about the oil spill that is ongoing in the Gulf of Mexico and we have been determined to find a way to help; we have now found the perfect way! We are now a member of the Matter of Trust organization and through this organization we are sending in boxes of hair. The hair collected is sent out to warehouses where the hair is then made into either booms or mats. These booms or mats are then built up to absorb the oil from the spill and clean our gulf and ocean fronts! And you clients are the biggest part of why we are a involved in this great cause; if it weren’t for you we would have no hair to send so THANK YOU for coming in and getting a cut with us and helping us do such a great deed for our country!

It finally has become warm enough for us to enjoy the outside air.  I love soaking up the sun but my hair and skin don’t agree with it. Usually by the end of summer I’m one big freckle and my hair becomes dry and brassy.  I must be diligent about putting on sunscreen, not only for my skin but my hair too.  Thank goodness all the Pureology products have SPF in them.  The best one to use everyday is the Essential Repair Colourmax spray.  Our educators called it sunscreen in a bottle and it’s also a great detangler. So before you head to the beach be prepared and protect that fragile skin and hair, they will thank you and so will your hair stylist.
