Fashion Color Forward

On a recent visit to Texas to see my sister I was approach by her friend to put purple in her hair. I thought how fun because I rarely get to put these “fashion colors” in clients hair. Before I started the process I had to warn her of the upkeep and mess this process makes. Because her hair is naturally dark I had to first lighten her hair. The blonder you get the brighter and bolder the colors take. But I also had to be careful not to take it too light because if the hair is fragile and porous the color will not hold. After the hair was light enough I had to dry the hair and put on the purple color. These colors have so much pigment that they dye everything… hands, scalp, floor and anything it comes in contact with. The color will come out gradually in the shower and can stain towels and pillowcases.
The purple color came out beautiful but unfortunately the vibrancy of the color will fade within two weeks. Therefore in two weeks she will want to re apply the color. There in lies the constant upkeep for these bold fashion colors. This process was fun and exciting but if I were to do this on my own hair I would choose crazy color extensions. The extensions that Lisa just got trained to do will never fade and they stay in the hair for about 3-4 months. That’s the best of both worlds and I see these extensions as the new and upcoming trend.
